DOBLA takes action

In their shared commitment to structure a network for dance and artists in both the Northern and Southern Basque Country by joining forces, the CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz, the Communauté d’Agglomération Pays Basque, the Basque Government, the Diputación Foral de Guipúzcoa, the City of Errenteria, and Dantzaz have come together to launch the first initiatives of the “Dobla” project, a cross-border European project serving the choreographic sector.

Together, these stakeholders are working on defining the specifications for the choreographic sector in the Northern and Southern Basque Country, as well as in Navarre, in order to identify needs, highlight existing strengths, and propose concrete ways to strengthen cooperation among dance professionals. Starting in March, artists, performance venues, and cultural agents will be interviewed to feed into this reflection.

Furthermore, a call for applications aimed at Basque choreographic companies has been launched. It seeks to support the dissemination of their performances by giving them the opportunity to present their shows at major events, such as the Temps d’Aimer la Danse festival or Danses Croisées, which will take place in November. DOBLA is a cross-border cooperation project co-financed at 65% by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027).
