1998

Inauguration of the Centre Chorégraphique National / Ballet Biarritz, created under the joint impetus of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the city of Biarritz, the Aquitaine Regional Council and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques County Council. It was entrusted to Thierry Malandain, who set up his company Temps Présent in Biarritz. His remit is to create, present and raise awareness.

1999

The Accueil Studio was added as a mission by the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Ballet Biarritz now has 12 intermittent dancers.

2000

Development of a Euro-regional activity: support from the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa and European funds (Interreg III A).

2000-2004

Thierry Malandain is artistic director of the Le Temps d'Aimer festival in Biarritz.

2002

Following on from this Euro-regional activity, the Dantzaz association and a Choreographic Awareness Centre were set up in Donostia-San Sebastián, with the support of the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa and the Basque Autonomous Government.

2004

Salaried dancers at Ballet Biarritz.

2005

Creation of Ballet Biarritz Junior based in Donostia-San Sebastián, which became autonomous at the end of 2008 under the name of Dantzaz Konpainia.

2007

Introduction of the Art-Dance Option at the Lycée André Malraux in Biarritz.

2008

European Interreg IV funding obtained for the Cross-Border Choreography Centre project. As part of this project, the Teatro Victoria Eugenia in Donostia-San Sebastián has undertaken to co-produce Thierry Malandain's creations over the coming years.

2009

The government commissioned a study by Michel Sala, which led to a Stability Pact for the period 2009-2012 and an increase in the SCC's resources (subsidies and own revenues).

Increase in the number of permanent dancers to 17. New image with a strong identity based on the concept of Ballet and the author Malandain. Ballet Biarritz becomes Malandain Ballet Biarritz.

Thierry Malandain takes over as artistic director of the Le Temps d'Aimer festival.

2010

Increase in the number of permanent dancers to 20.
Creation of LABO in Biarritz: Laboratoire de recherche chorégraphique sans frontières, led by Gaël Domenger.

2011

Signing of a partnership agreement - Ballet T cross-border project - between the City of Donostia-San Sebastián, the City of Biarritz, Teatro Victoria Eugenia and Malandain Ballet Biarritz.

2012

The awareness-raising work entrusted to Dominique Cordemans is carried out under the umbrella of the Awareness Platform.

2013

Increase to 22 permanent dancers.
