Hugo Layer was born in Sens. He studied dance at the Conservatoire de Sens until 2007, then at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse of Paris. During his studies, he took part in the creation of Rhapsody in Blue with Cathy Bisson, acted in the film Fais danser la poussière by Christian Faure and Marie Dô, and obtained the role of soloist in Clowns by the Pietragalla/Derouault company. He joined Malandain Ballet Biarritz in 2013.
