Malandain Ballet Biarritz will perform Magifique on December 27 at 8:30 pm and on December 28 at 4:00 pm and at 7:30 pm at the Gare du Midi in Biarritz to celebrate the festive season. All the money raised by the event will go to the victims of the flooding in Cambo-les-Bains. Magifique is a ballet on the dividing line between the known and the unknown, building a bridge between past and present, reality and fantasy.
Dominique Cordemans will organise master classes, repertoire workshops for young dancers and "Voulez-vous danser avec nous ?” workshops for adults as a prelude to the performances taking place in December in Biarritz.
Estro music: Vivaldi and Nocturnes music: Chopin. Premiere at the Opéra de Reims the 15th and 16th of november. Two creations expand Malandain Ballet Biarritz repertoire. Based on L’Estro Armonico Op.3 and Stabat Mater by Antonio Vivaldi, the first ballet, Estro, is about the desire for elevation. As for the second ballet, Nocturnes, it was inspired by the representations of Danse Macabre and was choreographed on the music of several Nocturnes by Frédéric Chopin.
On the invitation of Manuel Legris, director of the Wiener Staatsoper and Wiener Volksoper Ballets, Françoise Dubuc, ballet teacher at Malandain Ballet Biarritz, was in Vienna from 9 to 28 June to begin to prepare Mozart à 2 (1997) and Don Juan (2006) by Thierry Malandain. She will return from 21 September to 4 October to finalise the transmission of these two ballets. They will officially be included in the repertoire of the Austrian company at the première of Wiener Volksoper on 16 November 2014.
